Want to catch up on those long-running mangas over 100 chapters long? Well now you can. It’s easy. Anyone can do it. This short guide will give you the rundown on catching up to the latest scans.
Materials & non-tangible materials needed include:
- Manga of Choice (hardcopy or digital copy)
- Computer (if digital copy)
- A Quiet Place
- Dedication
- No Distractions
– A must! Have any books around the house you haven’t finished? Not a good sign if you do.
– No texting, twittering, or commenting on different websites. No TV, work, or other priorities. In other words, read on a free day. Music and breaks are okay.
Follow the Simple Steps:
- 1) Read the First Chapter
- 2) Read the Second Chapter
- 3) Continue to Read Pass the First Story Arc
- 4) Read Next Chapter and Repeat Step 3
- 5) Read Until You Hit 100 Chapters (or Continue to Read Until the Story Arc is Finished)
Oh sure, this sounds easy, but for some the first chapter is the “make it or break it.” Either it gets your interest or fails to. This can range from the artwork (I’m looking at you Hellsing) to the story and characters. But if you want to find out what makes people read that manga, you’re going to have to get over bad first impressions.
So you understand the general storyline and characters? Big deal. The story can’t progress unless you keep reading. More characters will make an appearance and probably become your favorites.
Yay! You finished reading the first story arc. Go take a break, you earned it. If you want, you can also measure the number of pages it took to finish that story arc. Expect the page count to be a little higher in the next few story arcs. Once your break is done, it’s time to go back into “read mode.”
Boo on me for making the steps repeats, but it’s the only way… (I know of). Once you’re done, you can extend your break periods (especially around lunch and dinner). But make sure you go back into “read mode” until the next step.
You did it! You made it to 100 chapters in 1 day. You may or may not have finished the series, but you are well on your way to. Make yourself a cake, or buy one if you suck at cooking.
If the manga chapters go further in the hundreds (200, 300, 400, etc…), repeat steps 3 – 5 the next day.
Unless you are forcing yourself to read a long-running manga, there should be something in the reading to keep you hooked. Otherwise just stop. Anyone can read, but it takes a lot of creativity and hard work to make something people like. The only reason as to why you shouldn’t judge the first chapter is that the first chapter doesn’t represent the entire story. But enough of that, I’m rambling.
