Title: The One
Author & Artist: Nicky Lee
Chapters: 1-59 (Ongoing)
Summary:
The ordinary life Lele Cane has experienced for seventeen years is about to end. After looking at a photo of the popular American model Angus Lanson, she begins to see modeling as an art form. From that one photo, she decides to take a chance and go into modeling. Since her parents were models as well (until they died in a plane crash), her chances may not be so slim. But soon she learns modeling is more than taking pictures and looking pretty. Even so, she is determined to reach the dream her mother and father couldn’t.
The Good
Artwork
I’m not used to seeing manhua artwork, but that shouldn’t stop me from reviewing the comic. The photo shoots are the main highlight when it comes to the artwork. They are the most well detailed, which they should be seeing as this is a modeling story. The photos hold the most dramatic part of the manhua.

Picture was taken from the anime series, else the game would be almost impossible in manga form… mmm, new game invented.
Answer to the picture will be revealed tomorrow even if you get it right.
Anyway, guess that hair!

Boo school. Even though all of the writers on the blog will be starting school soon, that doesn’t mean the blog will be postless.
But that is besides the point. There is a new page on the sidebar called “Manga Terminology.” For all you beginners that want a heads up on common terms used in manga, there you go.

Title: Beelzebub
Author & Artist: Tamura Ryuuhei
Chapters: 1-24 (Ongoing)
Summary:
Oga Tatsumi is the strongest juvenile delinquent. During a beating, Oga witnesses a mysterious man floating down a river. The man then splits in two to reveal a baby who then becomes attracted to Oga. And why not? If you were the son of the devil king and soon-to-be devil king, you would want someone as strong as Oga raising you. But Oga has to uphold battles with school gangs to uphold his title, all the while taking care of the young Beelzebub.
Why You Should Read It:
It’s funny…well not in the beginning. I was trying very hard not to judge the first chapter too harshly. The beginning includes some comedic performances that didn’t sink in, but that may have been the characteristics of the characters weren’t explored yet. Luckily in later chapters, the comedy is obvious and hilarious.

Which is better, manga or anime? That is one of the questions. Well, maybe that’s an exaggeration. It is, however, a debatable topic. Well, it’s a derivative of another debatable topic (like books verses the movie adaptation).
Seeing as I need to be in the middle, I will be the referee. Let’s look at each teams’ good points.
Note: We are focusing on adaptations only.
Team Manga
Better Artwork
Eight times out of ten, the artwork in the manga will be better than the anime. Why? Because… I said so.
No, that’s not the reason. Manga must have great artwork (or decent at best) to capture the reader’s attention. The aesthetics (haven’t seen that word in awhile) of a manga is dependent on appealing artwork. If one, just one, panel is unpleasing, the entire page is ruined (or even the entire chapter). This is both good and bad, but it does create a competitiveness for the readers’ attention. Read more »
